Tena tatou katoa,

He mihi nui ki a tatou katoa i runga i nga ahuahanga o te wa. Kia ratou kua wehe, haere atu ra, moe mai ra i runga i to waka ki te wa kainga.

It is a sad time for our country and our people from the events in Christchurch. We at Avondale Primary School send our best thoughts, wishes and love to the many affected families.

This morning our staff met to discuss our way forward. Our school assembly will cover three things. Firstly, that bad things happen and we highly encourage and welcome our students to let us know if they are affected.  Secondly,  that we endeavour to provide a safe environment here at APS.  Thirdly, we will be modelling the various languages our staff can speak as an example that our children celebrate uniqueness.

It’s critical our children, staff and young people get the support and care they need as they return to schools.  The Ministry of Education is offering Traumatic Incident support to all schools, kura and early learning services and these teams will begin visiting those who need immediate support from 8am today.  We also have access to a range of services and resources you may require to assist you and your family, so please feel free to contact us here at school.

Heoi ano, kiap ai to koutou wiikeene.

A huge shout out to George Walker, Rosebank Road, for their support today.

The amazing staff at George Walker came with their truck and have taken away our excess desks.
They are hoping to send them up to schools who were effected by Cyclone Gita in the islands.
What a fantastic idea.

Thanks again for your generosity

Family Fun Picnic

Thanks to all the friends and families who braved the showers and came to our event last night. Our students as always, presented their little items with gusto. Not so sure about the staff!!!!!

A special thank you to Sport Waitakere for coming along with their equipment for us to use.

If you missed out on purchasing a raffle, come into the office and get yours – $2 for one or three for $5.
